Blenders

There are many different kinds of blenders to choose from so you should think about what it will be used for. Some blenders can cost upwards of £100 but if you would be just as happy with a small one to make the occasional smoothie you don’t have to spend anywhere near that much.

You might want to get a blender which is more like a food processor. Thee blenders will slice, dice, crush and cut almost anything.

It is good idea to look at some of the more basic blenders first because one of these might do fine. You can get handheld blenders, which are also called immersion blenders, if you want something portable and light.

What is an Immersion Blender

An immersion blender is a gadget that it like a stick with a blade at one end. You can use it to make shakes and smoothies and you can also use an immersion blender to puree soup or thicken sauces. This type of blender is less powerful than a normal blender but immersion blenders are convenient because you can carry them around easily and store them where a big blender wouldn’t fit.

If you prefer something heavier and more capable, you might want to think about a food processor. These are high performance, powerful machines. Food processors mince, dice, slice, crush, chop and lots more.

There are several things to watch out for when looking for a food processor. If you are going to get a large food processor, it will be on display in your kitchen so choose something that looks good.

You can get plastic-based blenders in whichever colour you like. They come with plastic or metal bases. Metal based food processors cost more but the metal keeps the machine steady while you are using it. Some food processors have a feeder tube in the lid, meaning you can drop ingredients into the machine while it runs to save turning it off and taking the whole lid off.

Blenders have different features. They have different speeds and more speeds mean that you can do more things with the machine. High power blenders work better, on the whole, than low power types. A pulse option can be useful for chopping ice or nuts or to roughly blend or chop something.

Some blenders have glass containers and others have containers made from plastic or steel. A glass container is sturdier than a plastic one but once you drop it on a hard floor that’s it! Glass is easier to clean than plastic. Plastic containers can absorb smells and get scratched easily.

Steel dents easily.

It is best to check out a variety of blenders before you decide which suits your needs the best.
